'The Vale'
Darvel Juniors was founded in 1889 and know to many a local as 'Derval' Juniors, or 'The Vale'. The club now have a momentous point in our history as we enter our 132nd year which will see us make the transition from Junior to Senior Grade commencing season 2020/21. We will formally become Darvel F.C. as we begin a new journey into Senior Football under the West of Scotland Football League.
The Club Committee have decided we would like to share this illustrious point in our history by creating a “Juniors” Wall and to acknowledge all the admirable individuals who have played their part in keeping the Club going throughout our long history. The “Juniors” Wall will be situated in the new “Sammy Cox” Memorial Garden, a special garden area within the grounds of Recreation Park for previous Players, Committee, Social Club Members, Supporters or anyone who has a special connection with the Club to have their names engraved into a brick to share with loved ones for many years to come. Sammy Cox was born in Darvel and played with Darvel Juniors before eventually going on to achieve over 200 appearances for Rangers FC and 25 caps for Scotland. The bust of Sammy Cox will be situated as a main feature in the new memorial garden.
Sponsoring a Brick
You can sponsor a brick in your name or in memory of a loved one to commemorate their affiliation with Darvel FC. By sponsoring a brick in the “Juniors Wall” you will be helping to celebrate the history of Darvel Juniors and inspire future generations of Darvel FC as a Senior Club.
The “Juniors” Wall will be a memorial that will last generations at Recreation Park.
If you are interested in sponsoring a brick the cost will be £50 single brick or £70 double brick for you to have a name of your choice inscribed on it. You will also receive a personalised Roll of Honour Certificate.
We would encourage the use of a prefix before the name, e.g. “P” to denote player or “S” to denote supporter. We feel this will help to celebrate the uniqueness of each honourable individual.
